Carol Cobabe started her design career after raising her five children. She earned her AA degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles. She then formed a nine year partnership with a South Pasadena general contractor and they created a “design build” business. Her familiarity with construction and construction management has proved invaluable with her projects.

Carol’s natural eye for color and unique sense of decoration, combined with her knowledge of textiles and finishes makes her a skilled decorator. Additionally, her experience buying and selling vintage and antique furnishings, accessories and decorative arts, complements her design abilities and makes any room appear as if it had evolved through time even though it’s actually been recently created.

Each project takes on its own personality and unique challenges. Carol believes that working with the client and helping them create their dream and not hers is the only way to be a successful designer and to have happy clients.

The budget of the project is the first item discussed at the initial meeting. Using the client’s resources is a serious responsibility and maximizing the budget is always primary.

Carol has participated five times in the Pasadena Showcase as well as The Assistance League Design Home on the west side. Her work has been published in Better Homes and Gardens “Window and Wall treatments”, Designers West and also F. Schumacher Fall Classic Directions. Most recently Carol was awarded the “Golden Key Award” by the Pasadena ASID for outstanding design. She is currently the 2009 Chairperson for the ASID Home and Kitchen Tour.
